Our Client is one of Ottawa’s most established and respected owners, developers and managers of commercial and residential real estate. Our client has been a foundation to the Ottawa construction and property management market for over 50 years and has successfully transitioned through multiple generations. The organization has established a high standard and raised the bar when it relates to real estate development, home building and residential & commercial property management. With a very tenured leadership team, our client has worked across a vast portfolio of assets and leveraged their family run organization and reputation across many new initiatives and acquisitions. Due to recent growth, we are looking to assist them with a Property Accountant to join their growing team.
As the Property Accountant, you will be responsible for the entire accounting cycle for commercial and residential apartment portfolios. Working with a tenured financial leader and savvy team of colleagues, you will provide support to all areas of accounting and financial management. You will be relied upon to leverage your industry knowledge to drive the financial statement preparation and month end close. You will be responsible for all bank reconciliations, monthly accruals, tax remittances and reporting, oversight to the accounts receivable and cash flow management. You will be expected to assist with the budget create and variance analysis of actual to budget for ongoing management reporting. Daily cash application. Strong accuracy when it relates to cash flow reporting, assisting with year end working papers for auditors and liaising with property managers for budget purposes will be expected. Preparation of recovery calculations and charge ups will be needed and periodic communication with tenants may be expected.
The Ideal Candidate will have demonstrated background in full-cycle accounting along with budget management experience. They will require a comprehensive knowledge of a to z in accounting from transactional accounting to year end close, including comfort with full financial statement preparation, familiar with GST/HST reporting, cash flow reporting and an eye for accuracy. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, able to handle various personalities and have a quality work ethic. You will be proficient in Excel, MS Office, and familiarity with Yardi would be an asset.
