Our Client is an Ottawa-based accounting firm that provides exceptional service for individual and corporate clients in all areas of accounting, audit, tax, finance, management consulting and financial planning. Offering an intimate environment where their employees can make an impact, they seek to add an Accounting and Assurance Manager to their team.
As Manager of Accounting and Assurance, you will apply your technical expertise and research in formulating client-related recommendations per professional standards and Firm policies. You will actively participate in business development activities to recognize and seize business opportunities, including using marketing skills to attract new clients and identifying potential opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients. You will manage multiple engagements concurrently with sound project management principles, develop and maintain meaningful relationships with assigned clients, conduct pre-engagement planning with the engagement team and scope, and plan and manage assignments for maximum profitability while keeping in line with the Firm’s standards. You will be responsible for completing a detailed review of assurance and non-assurance engagements to ensure they are per professional and Firm standards while actively participating in developing and implementing Firm management policies and professional standards. You will coach staff to their highest potential by developing their skills and competencies through supervision, consistent recognition and encouragement, mentoring and assignment of client files, conducting internal and external presentations and training related to area of expertise and participating in interviews to assist in the selection of talented candidates
The Ideal Candidate is an experienced CPA who desires to work with entrepreneurial businesses with a minimum of five years’ experience in corporate tax research, consulting and compliance in a professional services firm. The successful candidate will have advanced expertise in all aspects of the accounting profession, including notice to readers, reviews, audits and corporate and personal income tax, with a strong commitment to providing feedback and development opportunities to junior staff. They will genuinely enjoy public accounting and being a lead member of an engagement team. They will have demonstrated skill in working well in a team environment and can establish and maintain strong relationships with both clients and colleagues. The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are committed to continuous learning. This opportunity is available for a remote candidate anywhere in Ontario. Ability to operate fully remotely for the right candidate can be negotiated.
