Recruiting in Motion
Our client has been transforming outdoor spaces for over 7 decades and is an established player in their space. For more than half a century, the best in the business have entrusted our clients to create quality products to last and have been a trusted partner in meeting their construction needs. As one of Canada’s largest precast concrete manufacturers, our client provides residential clients with timeless landscape solutions like paving stones and retaining walls, as well as additional precast hydro vault and septic system products for commercial clientele. With an innovative line of business servicing roof pavers, contractors, and material dealers, our client is looking for a strong Sales Representative to work closely with their star to learn the nuances of their business. Working with a fantastic Sales Manager, with tremendous tenure and experience within the organization, the Sales Representative will get strong support around them and every opportunity to succeed. With tons of growth opportunities, our client is eager to get the right person with the right attitude.
The role of the Sales Representative would be to work with the customer service, engineers, and logistics teams to help assess project requirements, prepare price quotes, and respond to proposal requests. We have an immediate opening for someone who understands bidding trends and expected documentation and can help determine the scope of work, and secure the contract dollars to meet the corporate sales targets. We are looking for a Sales Representative who can play a crucial role in revenue growth by helping with tailor-made solutions. With an “above and beyond” approach to customer service, we are looking for someone who can prospect opportunities, and isn’t afraid to get on a call with a new client but can jump in and support the existing clientele. While your main responsibility will be to promote the product to new & current clients, you will leverage various sales techniques to help evolve and grow your book of business. With the fortunate opportunity to be a succession plan to someone who is retiring, our client has time to train the right person with the right attitude and passion for their product and sales. You will know how to identify and create leads, prospect new clients, and cross-sell other lines of business while receiving training on the various product lines. You will be passionate about working with clients, helping to solve their problems and listen for new opportunities to position alternative products or services. You will collaborate with the manufacturing & logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and status reports for clients but also work with outside contractors to meet deadlines. Attending the odd trade show, or sales meeting on site will be expected.
The ideal candidate will work across the organization, supporting the sales team in the GTA, across southern ON, and eastern Canada. Post-secondary education is highly desirable and a passion for construction projects would be fantastic. We are looking for someone who has worked in a sales environment for a minimum of 3+ years and understands the construction industry or the roofing wholesale & distribution space. You will be an amazing communicator, who can not only “farm” existing clients, but sees opportunities and knows when to “hunt”. Your proven experience in putting clients first and being patient with sales cycles is needed. You will be on the road most of the time, meeting with clients, so the ability to get around the GTA is essential. A proven track record of building & maintaining strong client relationships, and identifying, and pursuing new business opportunities, while setting goals and revenue targets for yourself is needed. You are someone who is personally accountable for driving results and has pride in solving client problems. Understanding of concrete or roofing products and accessories is a huge asset, but the right attitude and “intangible” skills will go a long way.
What will make you stand out:
- Demonstrated success in building and nurturing relationships
- Strong negotiation & “closing” skills
- Experience working with RFP and tenders
- Exceptional communication skills.
