Our Client is a flourishing pan-Canadian nonprofit organization built on the principle that everyone deserves safe and affordable housing options. With a team of highly dedicated professionals committed to the development and capacity building in the housing sector, they seek an ambitious and engaging Development Manager with a competitive edge and entrepreneurial mindset. As the Development Manager you’ll identify and nurture new ideas, seize business opportunities, and contribute to the Centre’s financial sustainability. Working collaboratively with Government entities and stakeholders to expand their network of key partners, you’ll play a crucial role in advancing the transformation of Canada’s community housing sector through strategic partnerships and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, assess, and develop business opportunities to drive financial growth and expansion, securing support from funders, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Stay updated on housing market trends, community housing sector developments, and political changes at all levels to inform our strategic direction and foster collaboration.
  • Develop business proposals and reports to communicate organizational achievements to partners and funders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of projects from inception to completion, using standard project management practices.
  • Build strong networks and strategic alliances with government, private sector, nonprofits, and community organizations to leverage resources and insights.
  • Be a brand advocator for the company by attending conferences and events to expand their network and champion their mission.
  • Contribute to shaping the strategic vision, ensuring organizational sustainability, financial stability, and operational excellence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Urban Planning, Non-profit Management, or a related field; MBA or MPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in business development, strategic planning, or project management
  • Knowledge of the community housing sector and housing policies and programs at all government levels.
  • Understanding of policy/legislative processes and experience with policy development and evaluation.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in writing grant applications or business proposals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with expertise in relationship-building and stakeholder engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in creating proposals, reports, and presentations.
