They are now seeking a reliable Labor Relations Specialist to join their HR Team responsible for providing advice on internal employee relations matters within their unionized environment.
As a Political Action Officer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and delivering impactful messaging that aligns with the organization’s goals. Your primary responsibilities will include writing, editing, and managing a variety of content, such as press releases, internal memos, external communications, policies, corporate documents, and web content. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in tone and messaging across all platforms. This role requires you to develop clear, concise, and engaging content tailored to diverse audiences, often under tight deadlines. Additionally, you will manage communication channels, oversee updates to digital platforms, and ensure adherence to brand guidelines. A key aspect of the role is brainstorming and contributing to innovative communication strategies while maintaining a cohesive message that resonates internally and externally. Your expertise will also be vital in managing stakeholder relationships, supporting media outreach efforts, and enhancing the organization’s reputation through strategic communications.
Under the direction of the Director, the National Political Action Officerplays a critical role in coordinating and implementing national political action campaigns for a unionized organization. This position contributes to the development of political strategies and plans of action and ensures the timely and effective rollout of national campaigns. The Officer acts as a key liaison between the organization, its membership, and external stakeholders to advance the corporate objectives and priorities.
The National Political Action Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing national political action campaigns, ensuring their strategic alignment with organizational goals and objectives. This includes developing and executing campaign plans, engaging with media to support membership initiatives, and building public awareness. The Officer analyzes and addresses operational challenges with innovative solutions while setting and monitoring both long- and short-term objectives. A key aspect of the role involves fostering trust and cooperation among employees to promote enthusiasm and commitment to campaigns. Additionally, the Officer represents the organization in political forums and advocacy efforts, communicating key principles and strategies. You will provide regular updates to leadership on campaign progress, outcomes, and budget compliance while managing resources effectively, including the preparation and oversight of campaign budgets.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in planning and executing political or communications campaigns, with a deep understanding of campaign techniques, strategies, and ideally am understanding of the Canadian political landscape. You will possess thorough knowledge of the organization’s policies, constitution, and program objectives, enabling you to align political actions with the organizational goals. Demonstrated expertise in the strategic use of media to support membership campaigns is essential, along with strong skills in planning, priority setting, and budget management to ensure financial accountability. Effective communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are critical, as is the ability to manage change and address organizational, operational, and personnel challenges. Proficiency in English & French is highly desirable, along with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The position requires flexibility to travel and work evenings or weekends to meet campaign demands.
